Cornerstone Business Services hires Detroit division director

Cornerstone Business Services has hired Jim Butler as director of the firm’s newly established Detroit division. 

As director, Butler is charged with establishing Cornerstone’s presence in Michigan and building a client base.  He has an extensive background in the petroleum industry and will initially focus on assisting sellers of petroleum-based businesses.

Cornerstone plans to expand to serve other industries within the year. 

Butler was chief operating officer of Troy-based Mid States Petroleum for more than 30 years.  The company was comprised of more than 50 convenience stories, five bulk plants and warehouse distribution centers in three states. It was one of the largest wholesalers of petroleum in the Midwest before the business was sold in 1997.

Since 1997, Butler has worked in consulting, commercial real estate sales and real estate development.  He is a past-president of the Michigan Petroleum Association and has served in a leadership role for numerous other industry associations.
