BIOGRAPHY
Stephen Z. Royko is an M&A Advisor and Managing Director of Cornerstone Business Services’ Madison office. He has nearly 10 years of experience in business planning and development, providing strategic leadership to companies in a variety of industries and stages.

From mid 2005 to mid 2006, he served as interim CEO of a Wisconsin real estate company and was charged with stabilizing the business. Under his leadership the company secured a significant credit line, repositioned its products, restructured management, streamlined operations, and identified a new president.  As of August 31, 2006, the company had doubled its 2005 sales.

Earlier in his career, he worked for the Madison law firm of Michael Best & Friedrich LLP, both managing strategic business development initiatives for the firm and also assisting clients with strategic business plans, market research, and feasibility studies.

Most recently, Steve owned and operated Royko Enterprises LLC, a business consulting firm. His projects included strategic business and financing plans, pro forma development, market research and analysis, and development and execution of marketing and public relations strategies.  Steve served both early stage companies and established businesses in a wide variety of industries.

He is also the co-author of “Seed Capital Formulation,” a white paper later used as a foundation statement for the 2001 Venture Capital Summit initiated by former governor Tommy Thompson.

Steve holds an MBA in marketing and entrepreneurship from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where he was named Outstanding Student of the Year in the Weinert Applied Ventures in Entrepreneurship (WAVE) program.

He is a member of the Rotary Club of Madison, Downtown Madison Inc. and is a board member of the Evansville Fund.  A native of Madison, Steve now makes his home in the nearby city of Evansville along with his wife, daughter and son.
